Guide To Lord Mayor’s Show 2019

Every year, since 1215, a parade witnessed by more than 7,000 people is held to honor the elected person’s new responsibility over the populace. As the lord mayor of London, the elected person is also the head of the world’s oldest continuously elected local authority – The City of London Corporation
Lord Mayor’s Show started back in 1215 when King John gave the power to select new mayors to the citizens. As part of the right, the newly elected mayor had to swear loyalty to the crown. This resulted to a traditional parade held in the middle of November.
This tradition has been going on for more than 800 years and until this day, it continues to gather people from all around London to witness history in the making.
A public party is held during this event which you can enjoy when you are staying at any of the serviced apartments Mayfair London, but this isn’t the only thing to do throughout the celebration. There are river pageants, street processions, fireworks and many more!
The historic Lord Mayor’s Coach leaves at the Museum of London and traverses through Westminster. Inside, the newly-elected mayor prepares himself to face the Queen so that he can show his allegiance to the crown.
To reach the place where the event is held, there are many tube stations that provide ease of access to the area, such as Cannon Street, Monument, and Moorgate. Bank and St. Pauls are expected to be busy but the City Thameslink train station is a convenient alternative for the stations mentioned above.
Of course, tube stations are not for everyone. And it’s a good thing that there are several other ways to get there, like buses that go through Liverpool Street or Kingsway, river bus or a stroll on the Millennium Footbridge. But going there by car is not advisable for the security is very tight and no one is allowed to drive past the show.
Tickets cost £40.00 and each seat comes with a celebratory program. Online reservations from different ticketing websites are helpful to ensure that everyone who wants to witness this will have their opportunity. If you don’t want to miss it make sure to book any of the best aparthotels in London.
This year’s Lord Mayor’s Show marks the 804th anniversary since it started and it is a milestone for its continued success throughout the year. This year’s show runs all day and will be a perfect opportunity for the whole family to establish a stronger bond. The show will offer two family Show Zones with different rides, games, workshops and food stalls.
People from all over the world not only contribute to the success of this event, but they also raise the business of the area. This tradition for more than 800 years is a manifestation of how the people of London value their history and the more they celebrate this, the more that they create history.
